Covid-19 Information and Safety Measures

Our reality is, COVID-19 remains with us as a serious health risk; the long-term ill effects of the virus are still little understood; and the sustained personal contact of massage therapy introduces an elevated risk of transmission of the virus.

Yet as many of us have come to realize, navigating risk is an essential aspect of life. And so often it is the acceptance of risk—when we are informed and responsible to it—that allows us to find new being and possibility.

As a fully-vaccinated practitioner, I am ready to take the informed risks that help us nourish that newness, or at least satisfy the starvation of touch and movement. I expect you, as a client, to take my own wellbeing just as seriously and become informed of the protocols and safety measures used in my practice that allow us to work together safely.

  • Pre-screening Questions when scheduling

  • Masks optional for practitioner and client before, after, and during the session

    • All clients may choose for us to wear masks while working together

    • Masks will be available at no charge to those clients who need one.

  • Access to hand-washing sink provided upon entry

  • Hand sanitizer available in treatment room

  • EPA-approved disinfectant used to clean all surfaces between guests

  • Laundered and clean sheets and blanket used for each session

  • HEPA air purifier in room for air quality control

  • Unlimited cancellations

    • You may, for health reasons, cancel your appointment and reschedule it for another date. As practitioner and client, we are mutually responsible for each other’s health and well-being. This trust we should not violate. We should delay working together if you:

      • Have been diagnosed with COVID-19, or have received a positive test result for COVID-19

      • Have been exposed to anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to your appointment

      • Have traveled outside of Austin, Texas or Central Texas anytime two weeks prior to your appointment

      • Have had a fever, any respiratory or flu-like symptoms, sore throat, or shortness of breath in the 48 hours prior to your appointment

      • Have been diagnosed with any of the following conditions that increase the risk of developing severe illness from COVID-19

        • Cancer

        • Chronic kidney disease

        • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

        • Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system)

        • Serious heart conditions (heart failure, coronary artery disease, etc.)

        • Sickle cell disease

        • Type 2 diabetes mellitus

      • Are over the age of 60 or live with anyone over the age of 60

Our safety measures and policies are crafted under the guidance and recommendation of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.

The decision to resume or to suspend practice is based on the local surveillance and statistics from City of Austin Department of Public Health. Self-assessments, free testing, and more information on Covid-19 can be found through APH.

I welcome conversation with any and every client on how we can practice together safely. Let me know if we should discuss anything at all or if I can provide any further transparency.
